Elon Musk Acknowledged April Rocket Test Incident At SpaceX

Elon Musk, the Founder of SpaceX, claimed last week that an issue during a test caused a pipe in a rocket booster model to collapse out of shape. The Starship upcoming launch system is currently being developed and tested by SpaceX in Boca Chica, Texas.

Following an incident that resulted in a huge explosion forming at the rocket’s base, the corporation transferred its booster prototype from the launch facility to its infrastructure services earlier this month.

The pressurisation of the Starship Booster 7 prototype was the test that was conducted. Booster 7’s downcomer pipe allegedly flattened out as a result of the test, according to unsubstantiated images that started circulating on social media shortly after it was conducted by SpaceX in April.

Because the liquid methane and oxygen tanks are stacked on top of one another, a downcomer pipe that carries fuel to the rocket engines must pass through each of them.

But in keeping with its goal of moving ahead fast, SpaceX was able to bring the 230-foot-tall rocket back to its facilities, repair it there, and then return back to the launch facility in just two weeks. Now, Mr. Musk has acknowledged the incident in a YouTube chat with Everyday Astronaut.

Elon Musk Stated that

The Booster 7 test, we experienced a little problem where we collapsed a portion of the LOX transfer tube. Therefore, we will go inside and solve the issue of damaged LOX transfer tube. Therefore, it will likely take us a week to remedy it.

During the conversation, Musk provided information regarding the design of the igniter for his corporation’s most latest rocket engine. The task of lighting the pre-mixed fuel and oxidizer in any engine falls to the SpaceX Raptor 2 engines that will accelerate the Starship.

Musk went on to say that SpaceX’s “secret sauce” for the ignition system of the Raptor 2 has allowed the tech giants to reduce costs, boost ignition efficiency, and minimise complexity and failure scenarios. In its earlier endeavours, SpaceX also experienced a number of failures, and these serve as lessons for the business as it works to improve technology and address flaws.
