Facebook will stop allowing live shopping

Live shopping, a Facebook Livestream feature that allowed producers to promote and sell their items to their audience, will end on October 1. The company intends to concentrate on Reels in its place.

Instagram would still have the shopping option even though Facebook would no longer have it. The company stated: "As customers' viewing habits shift to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, Meta's short-form video product."

The shopping function allowed influencers to access their own purchasing session by broadcasting their products and making them available for purchase. In contrast to the rest of the globe, China saw considerable success with the film. Due to a lack of interest, TikTok said last month that it was limiting the use of its shopping tab function in the US and Europe.

Facebook is committed to enhancing Reels, a short-form video product that it only recently introduced. Facebook and Instagram have been attempting to compete with the attention-grabbing short video content that is similar to TikTok.

In the past, Instagram considered implementing video content algorithms similar to TikTok, but it was rebuffed by users for deviating from the platform's core function of photo-sharing. In reaction to criticism, the social media industry was compelled to undo its changes, but it is still spending money on short-form video content.
